On Knowledge by Ken Larson
Proverbs 1:7 states, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” The quest for knowledge is arduous, but those who persevere are never disappointed. What better place to begin your quest than at a library?
A good library opens our eyes and minds to the world around us, and helps us grow in our knowledge of God. History reveals God’s sovereign hand working through the lives and events recorded. The sciences—astronomy, chemistry, physics—demonstrate how God has designed His universe. Arithmetic provides the principles governing the universe. From the joys and hardships in the frontier world of Laura Ingalls to Ernest Hemingway’s tales of man’s struggle against nature to the C.S. Lewis’ richly metaphorical Narnia, there is much great literature to be discovered and savored.
