Music
Music is one of the Seven Liberal Arts and yet, too frequently, it is
relegated to an extra-curricular opportunity. At Northfield, music is
the language that all people can speak to each other, and as we
communicate musically, we accomplish our work of understanding one
another. We all study music, whether performance or theory.
Northfield School develops the general study of music into the specific
and more demanding work of instrumental and choral ensemble
opportunities. Our Music Monday program strives to give our community a
fluency in the language of music by offering terms that help us build a
musical glossary, so that we might appreciate the performance of music
as a creative act in which we all participate.

Music by Becky Elder
I was drawn like a leaf in the wind to the top of the
stairs. The sight below will never be replicated and will always bring
tears of unmitigated joy and hope to my eyes: six grown men, all
Northfield men, gathered in unabashed song. (more)
